Kickstart (Watermelon) is a flavor of Mountain Dew Kickstart released in January 2016. It is made with coconut water.
This flavor, along with flavors 736, 286, 722, 231, 493, and 509, were shipped to Dew Labs members who were chosen based on their video submissions to the video website 12seconds.tv, and were shipped boxes of the seven prototype flavors. From the initial seven flavors, taste testers were asked to elect three final flavors for later release at retail stores. 648 eventually lost and was not released to stores.
7 years later, in early 2016, the Flavor was rereleased in Kickstart form alongside Kickstart (Midnight Grape), Kickstart (Blueberry Pomegranate), and Kickstart (Blood Orange). Among the adverts used to promote the new Kickstart flavors included the now-infamous Puppy Monkey Baby character. The ad features a computer-generated mash-up of three things that the public generally finds to be cute or harmless; a Pug puppy (the head), a monkey (the body and tail), and a dancing baby (the hips and legs). The puppy monkey baby dances with three men who are presumably watching the Super Bowl, offering them Mountain Dew Kickstart, which is similarly described as being a combination of three things (Mountain Dew, juice, and caffeine).
