Game Fuel (Wild Fruit)

Game Fuel (Wild Fruit) (also known as '"Game Fuel Alliance Blue") was a Mountain Dew Game Fuel flavor released in Summer 2009 for a limited time as part for the Game Fuel Promotion to coincide with World of Warcraft.

Description[]

Game Fuel (Wild Fruit) was a Wild Fruit flavor of Mountain Dew and had a cobalt blue look.

Tagline[]

Its tagline was "DEW with a Punch of Wild Fruit Flavor."

History[]

Main article: Game Fuel Promotion

Having been used to coincide with the game Halo 3 in 2007, the original Game Fuel (Citrus Cherry) flavor was brought back in the Summer of 2009 alongside a new flavor, Game Fuel (Wild Fruit), with this release marking the first time it released alongside a new companion flavor. Unlike its predecessor, this 2009 release didn't accompany a specific expansion or video game release and instead served to promote the MMORPG "World of Warcraft", which had been released five years prior in 2004. Both flavors sported rebranded designs promoting the game, and were available for a limited ten-week run.

Citrus Cherry's flavor formula remained the same, and it was marketed under the name "Mountain Dew Game Fuel Horde Red" as it represented the Horde. Game Fuel (Wild Fruit) was marketed as "Mountain Dew Game Fuel Alliance Blue," as it represented the Alliance. After their ten-week run, both flavors were discontinued.

Trivia[]

  • Game Fuel (Wild Fruit) was the first companion flavor that promoted a video game with Game Fuel Citrus Cherry, a returning flavor. The trend would continue in subsequent Game Fuel promotions except for 2012's Dew XP promotion for Halo 4 (in which only Game Fuel Citrus Cherry returned) and 2017's Every60Seconds promotion (in which two previously discontinued flavors were brought back as Game Fuel flavors).
